Capo Testa

The Granite Planet

An enchanted journey among sea creatures, legends and love for nature.

Faro e Vecchio Semaforo

‘You haven't forgotten who you were. You just need to remember.’

In northern Sardinia, in the province of Sassari, three kilometres from Santa Teresa di Gallura, Capo Testa is a natural masterpiece where imposing rock formations, white beaches, lunar landscapes and picturesque coves blend together in incredible harmony.

The profile of this imposing promontory is characterised by granite rocks which, over thousands of years of erosion by the wind and sea, have been transformed into breathtaking structures of unusual size and geometry.

Thanks to the richness of its habitats and the species that inhabit it, the Capo Testa peninsula has been designated a Site of Community Importance (SCI) and has become part of the Natura 2000 network, an EU tool for preserving the rich biodiversity of specific territories.

In addition to nature, there is a wealth of history: from the Nuragic civilisation (the Lu Brandali archaeological site and the La Testa nuragic complex) to ancient Rome, when granite was quarried here to build monuments in the capital.

This area has also been chosen as a “home” by some young and not-so-young people driven by the desire for an alternative lifestyle, reminiscent of some of the concepts of the “flower children” of the 1960s and 1970s.

And that's all history. Facts and information that can be found on Wikipedia and in history and geography books.

However, The Granite Planet tells the story of another Capo Testa, the one discovered by little Actarus many years ago in a galaxy far, far away.

It bears witness, with images taken by the space explorer over the years, to a fantastic world of animals, mystical creatures and legends.

It tells of the place that Actarus loved from the very first moment and that he never stopped searching for and pursuing. Imagining and dreaming.

On the Granite Planet, you will find the essence of Capo Testa, of what it represents for Actarus.

It is a bit like a fairy tale, or a collection of fairy tales. For children or perhaps for children who never grew up, like the now “differently young” explorer.

It does not claim to make you regret Ansel Adams, nor to win the Strega Prize.

Anyway, for those who would like to be taken on a tour of the Granite Planet, this would be a great way to start.

You will find, among others, the Giant Crab, the Smiling Fish, the Yawning Fish and the Perplexed Fish, as well as several species of sharks. But also Luminite, the Elderly Mouflon, the Pointer with the Periscope Neck, the Lonely Hydrant, the Chubby Alien, the camel-elephant Jumbino, the Girl and the Cloud, the Desperate Diver, the Rock-Traz Prison, the Boys Playing with Headlights, Long Nose Sulky and the Piper de la Turri.

But above all, there is so much love for the Sea, for the Wind, for Nature, for Freedom and for Life.

Michela
"Actarus, my hero, lands on the Planet of Granite, a fantastic place where rocks come to life and become fantastic characters.

It is a declaration of love for this magical land, which leaves a mark inside every time... like this book..."

Simone
"A truly special book.

It combines fantasy with current themes such as technology.

Moving and thought-provoking.

You can fully understand the nature of the writer and his kindness of heart.

It makes you realise how much the writer is in love with that granite planet that he calls his own.

Unique."

Vittoria
The book moved me several times while reading it and manages to convey the emotional baggage that the protagonist has experienced throughout his life.

It immerses you in the perfectly described places and makes you clearly understand how deeply the author loves them.

Every page has something to say, but what I loved most was the sense of melancholy I felt when reading about Actarus, who passed on his wealth of knowledge and love to the younger generations.

I speak as someone who has visited this beautiful place, so I can say that there is no more authentic and complete description than this one, as it perfectly conveys the freedom, nostalgia, history, sense of smallness in the face of nature, and sense of peace that it offers by giving things their proper weight."

Leonardo
"A diary-confession, a concentration of memories, emotions, fantasies... it really moved me...
The rest remains inside...!"
